Artbarn is a not-for-profit theater arts program with the goal of providing affordable opportunities for regional youth to experience the excitement of collaborative work in the performing arts. While expanding the theater arts community for youth in Brookline, the program aims to foster self-respect, self-esteem, and social confidence while empowering young artists of diverse backgrounds to express their creative visions through child-centered decision-making and group problem-solving skills. Tuition scholarships are available. Our mission is to keep this program accessible to all children who express an interest in the performing arts.

The Brookline Chrous has been part of Brookline's cultural life for more than 20 years. We've grown from a small community group to an increasingly accomplished and recognized auditioned ensemble of some 80 voices. Choristers of all ages and from all walks of life come from Brookline and surrounding communities. The chorus performs two major concerts a year, ranging from baroque to contemporary.Our commitments: (1) to perform first-rate repertoire at a time, place, and cost that is accessible to the residents of Brookline and surrounding communities (2) To support contemporary composers of choral music and talented young local performers by showcasing their work and (3) to learn and perform great music, both traditional and contemporary.

The Brookline Commission for the Arts is appointed by the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Brookline to preserve, enrich, and develop the unique cultural characteristics of the Town of Brookline. We do this by serving artists and humanists, their supporting organizations, and the general community, and building bridges between them. Specifically, we (1) administer grants to artists and arts organizations from funds provided by the Massachusetts Cultural Council; (2) provide networking opportunities for the arts and humanities community by hosting an annual networking event and publishing this online Directory of Arts Organizations; and (3) support the inclusion of public art in Brookline by preparing guidelines and assessing proposals for public art and advising on public art projects in accordance with the guidelines.

The Brookline Historical Society is a non-profit community organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Brookline's diverse history. The society hosts public events and maintains collections of materials related to Brookline history, including an online archive. Its headquarters are located in the heart of Coolidge Corner at the circa 1740 Edward Devotion House. The society also maintains the circa 1780 Widow Harris House and the circa 1768 Putterham School, both located in Larz Anderson Park. Our membership program is active and volunteers are welcome. We seek to work in partnership with other organizations to increase our outreach in the community.

The BLMA is a non-profit organization founded in 1951 as one of the first library music associations in the U.S. Its mission is to produce an annual series of free concerts for residents of Brookline and neighboring communities, and thereby to provide performance opportunities for young and emerging professional musicians in the Boston area. Now in its 55th season, the BLMA has produced over 300 free concerts for more than 30,000 people in the Brookline Library. Six free concerts per season (October-April) are held in Hunneman Hall at the main branch of the Library at 2:30pm on selected Sundays. The hall is handicapped accessible; seating is limited.

The Brookline Music Boosters is a non-profit organization which began nine years ago as a grass roots endeavor in response to severe cut-backs to the instrumental music program in the Brookline Public Schools. It is comprised of parents, staff, administrators, school committee members, and community people who believe that music is an essential part of children’s education.

This exciting program offers a unique theatrical experience for children. Each morning, children engage in fun and exciting classes in the arts. In the afternoon, children collaborate with professional artist/educators to create an original musical production. They work together writing a script, learning dialogue and choreography, designing sets and costumes, and rehearsing their work. Each two-week program culminates with a performance of their original show for families and friends. Every child has a chance to develop his/her talents in a supportive, non-competitive environment where creativity and teamwork are valued.
The program is geared for children ages 7–13.
The program runs 8:30 AM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday for children ages 7–13 at Lincoln School in Brookline and is a part of the Brookline Adult & Community Education Smart Summers Programs.

The Coolidge Corner Community Chorus is a group open to singers of all backgrounds. We do not require auditions and foster a cooperative spirit within the group -- experienced members work openly with members without formal training. We rehearse Wednesday evenings during the school year at Edward Devotion School under the direction of noted musician and teacher David Morochnick and accompanied by the beloved Florence ("Flossie") A. Dunn.
We strongly believe in the power of music to help build community. The Chorus performs at community events, nursing homes, and senior housing throughout the year. At our concerts, we have raised money for the All Town Honors Orchestra, the Coolidge Corner Theater Foundation, the Committee to End Elder Homelessness, and the Devo Scholars Program, which subsidizes private music lessons for students otherwise unable to afford them. We were honored to receive the Brookline PAX Award for Outstanding Community Involvement.

Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site, a unit of the National Park Service, presents the home and office of the nation's premier landscape architect and the designer of New York's Central Park, Boston's "emerald necklace" park system, and Stanford University's grounds, among many
others. This site, named "Fairsted" by Mr. Olmsted, served as the headquarters for the Olmsted firm and its successors from 1883 until the
National Park Service purchased it in 1980. In addition to offering public tours and educational programs, the site holds and administers the Olmsted Archives, a collection of approximately 140,000 plans, 65,000 print photographs, and roughly one million individual pieces of archival information used by researchers from around the world.
The site is currently closed for a preservation construction project that will add up-to-date fire suppression equipment to the former Olmsted home and offices, install a new heating and cooling system to protect the Archives and museum objects, and transform a historic barn into a facility to accommodate school groups, stage exhibits, and hold meetings. Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site expects to reopen for public tours in late 2008. Please check the web site, www.nps.gov/frla, for updates on the construction project and the anticipated reopening date.
While closed, the site will continue to offer off-site walks and programs in partnership with area environmental, educational, and arts organizations. In addition, it expect to present a new lecture series beginning in the fall of 2007. Please check the web site for further information.

We are a group of parent volunteers who work with the Performing Arts Department at Brookline High School. We are a committee of the Brookline High School PTO. We support the program through publicity, hospitality, and whatever other tasks are appropriate. Fundraising is a small part of our activity at the present, but we may chose to do more in t he future. Specifically , we provide regular information to the TAB and BATV about performances and achievements at the high school and we distribute a calendar of events, a newsletter, and flyers to elementary schools and religious institutions. We provide refreshments and ticket sales or ushering at events, and maintain an email list of volunteers who can be called upon for help as the department asks.

We have no particular events of our own, but the Performing Arts Department offers over a fifty performances in a school year.

About: Janus Russian-American Center for the Arts, Inc. tries to familiarize English-speaking audiences with old and contemporary Russian culture, and popularizes American culture among the Russian community of greater Boston. Art shows at Janus present contemporary Russian art and American art, and provides professional analysis through gallery talks, themed lectures and similar programs. Since its grass roots inception in 1990 as an independent performing arts program in the Lincoln School in Brookline, the PALS Children's Chorus has grown into five ensembles serving hundreds of Boston area children ages seven through 17. Founder and visionary Johanna Hill Simpson, a Boston conductor who also serves as New England Conservatory Co-Director of Choral Activities, has formed the unique partnership between artists, parents, school and community that is at the heart of PALS' incredible success.
Extraordinary teaching happens in a PALS rehearsal. PALS is an after-school program that uses training in music, dance and theater to help children discover that they can achieve excellence. But the mission of PALS goes far beyond its Symphony Hall performances. Through PALS, Simpson indelibly changes the lives of the children in her charge, building confidence, discipline and leadership, as well as a passion for music that will last a lifetime.

The Peanut Butter & Jelly Dance Company was founded in 1980 to present performances and programs by adult professional dancer/teachers for elementary and pre-school-age audiences, to sponsor concerts directed to the public, and to teach classes for children and teachers. PB&J has three facets:
- The Peanut Butter & Jelly Dance Company, a company of professional dancers who perform and do workshops for children,
- PB&J Dance Classes for Kids, an after-school program of dance classes for children ages 3-8, taught from a creative movement perspective, and
- SMALL FEETS dance company, a dance company for children ages 6 and up, presenting performances for Brookline's First Light Festival, Children's Dance Festival, our year-end concert, and other places.
