What We Do

The Brookline Commission for the Arts serves as a Local Community Council  to the Massachusetts Cultural Council. We administer and award grants to artists and arts organizations. We fund projects in literature, music, and the graphic and plastic arts, including  publication, performance, exhibition, or education that contributes to the cultural life of Brookline.

We provide networking opportunities for the arts and humanities community through an annual networking event for arts organizations. We support the inclusion of public art in Brookline by providing guidance for specific projects in accordance with the guidelines.

Commission members are appointed by the Board of Selectmen for three-year terms. If you are interested in serving, please send a letter of application and resume to Richard J. Kelliher, Town Administrator, Selectmen's Office, Old Lincoln School, 194 Boylston Street (RT. 9), Brookline, MA 02445. You might also contact the commission co-chairs.
